The Norsemen Restaurant has earned a superior reputation through the past efforts of two skilled and dedicated chefs.
Now, the Norsemen is pleased to announce the arrival of Executive Chef Harvey Cross, who will add to the reputation of excellence with his culinary vision.

Hailing from Scarborough Ontario, Harvey started his apprenticeship almost 30 years ago in Toronto, at The Delta Chelsea Inn. His early learning came from “Greats” like Herbert Mueller and Dominic Zofferaneri. He moved on to the famous Bellair Café in trendy Yorkville working with Jacques Noisette and his team of classic French Sous-Chefs.
Pursuing the French technique and influence, Harvey continued to sharpen his skills at such noted establishments as Les Copins, Garbo’s Bistro and Le Petit Gourmet.
Opportunities with Holiday Inns in the “Banana Belt” of Sarnia and Windsor Ontario followed, and the move culminated in a 14 year stint at the University of Windsor where Harvey was responsible for all food services scattered over three buildings.
In 2003, after having had the opportunity of raising his daughter Ingrid, in a stable “ 9-5… summer off…” environment, Harvey felt free again to yield to his yearning for a return to his true passion….Fine Dining… in the classic French style.

When the owner of one of his favorite haunts in Windsor, "La Cuisine"….a bastion of French Country cuisine, told Harvey he was planning to retire after more than 25 years and was looking for someone to carry on his tradition, this talented chef could not resist!
To the music of rave reviews written by notable restaurant critics in Detroit and Windsor, Chef and Owner Harvey Cross made giant waves in the international restaurant scene. Harvey’s, soups, classic sauces, his Terrines, Gravadlax and fabulous chocolate desserts, drew droves of diners to La Cuisine, from both sides of the border.
When La Cuisine closed in 2007, a thorough search to find an outlet for his considerable talents led Chef Harvey to Muskoka and the renowned Norsemen Restaurant. With renewed energy and a vast repertoire of excellent dishes, he will be enthralling a new audience with his culinary vision.
